There has been a 16.3% increase in the average tuition over the past few years. In 2007, the average tuition at these online colleges was $8,257 per year.

On the other end of the spectrum, the cheapest colleges and universities require students to pay per annum tuition costs in the range of $1,454 to $4,319. The accredited online science masters degree schools that are the least costly are located in Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and South Dakota.

In 2011, 25.5% of the nation’s science masters level graduates earned their degrees from these low tuition online programs. This represents 525,925 students. A short 5 years prior, in 2006, the number of students graduating from these colleges and universities was only 363,032. This represents a 45% increase in the number of graduates from these low tuition online schools.
